Immunization and insurance
Vaccination requirements to attend school in Ontario
All students attending a school in Ontario must be immunized against the following diseases:
- diphtheria
- tetanus
- poliomyelitis
- measles
- mumps
- rubella
International students must provide a copy of their immunization record when enrolling in the program. Toronto Public Health must know which vaccines the students have received from birth up until the time of their application (primary series). Even if the vaccinations may have been administered at different intervals from the ones in Ontario, the vaccines must be comparable.
To have an idea of which vaccines are required, you can see the immunization schedule followed by the Minsitry of Health in Ontario.
A copy of the student’s immunization record must be sent to the Toronto Public Health Immunization Program to be assessed. Students may require additional vaccinations when they arrive in Canada. If applicable, a student and his/her legal guardian can make an appointment at a Canadian clinic.
There is no need to worry as we will provide you with all the relevant information in due course.
Sign up for health insurance
Medical, hospital and dental care can be very expensive in Canada. For international students, these expenses are not covered by government health insurance plans. It is therefore mandatory for international students to have medical insurance during their stay. Insurance will be provided to international students with their registration fee.
Conseil scolaire Viamonde cannot be held liable for fees not covered by the insurance company.
Parents are free to purchase additional insurance if they consider that this coverage is inadequate.
